This discussion panel will enlighten local filmmakers on the ins-and-outs (and trials-and-tribulations) of film production in the area. Learn from those who, as a group, have been through all aspects of the film making process. You will gain enough knowledge from this seminar to start, or continue, a career in film making while having the pleasure of living and working in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Laura Grey - The Colorado Office of Film, Television & Media (formerly the Colorado Film Commission)
Laura is a graduate of the CU Denver film program and formerly worked as a permit coordinator for the City of Denver issuing film and special event permits. She is the primary contact for filmmakers looking for a location and/or crew in Colorado and is well versed with the entire filmmaking process. She was part of the Colorado Film Commission team that was brought into the Colorado state Government under the recently signed House Bill 1010 which re-establishes the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media and will provide tax incentives to attract and grow film production throughout the state.
Brian Malone - 5 time Emmy award winning Documentary Filmmaker
After seven television stations, Brian left TV news and created Malone Media Group to pursue documentary projects. Now, more than a decade
later, Brian has produced more than a dozen independent documentaries for national broadcasts, cable and festivals.
In 2006, Brian produced and directed, "Breaking News: Celebrity Trials and the Media". This feature documentary examined the salacious coverage of the news media when celebrities go wrong. In a rare “right place at the right time” deal, "Breaking News" was sold at the Sundance Film Festival without
even being in the festival. It is also currently in international broadcast distribution.
Brian's new film "Intellegent Life" will be screened at CRFF.
Tom, owner of TaTanka Productions, has been producing and directing long and short form investigative international documentaries and natural history programs for more than thirty years in the United States and abroad. He has produced 24 international documentaries in the last six years in the Middle East, Europe and Mexico. His programs have appeared on HDNet “World Report” a High Definition Satellite Network, ABC Nightline, ABC News World News Tonight, Al Jazeera International and as a Director of Photography for ABC 20/20, CBS Sixty Minutes, BBC, ITN and Discovery.
Tom has won many festival awards and one of his most recent was for his investigative documentary “Iraqi Athletes, a Test of Endurance,” which won the prestigious PLATIUM REMI AWARD at the Houston World Fest International Film Festival.
Jamin is a 31-year-old writer/director living and working in Denver, Colorado. He established Double Edge Films there nine years ago and has made several critically acclaimed shorts and two feature films. Winans' short film Spin has won over 40 awards and played at over 80 film festivals worldwide. Spin has 4 million hits across YouTube and has played on television in the US, Russia, Germany, France and Denmark.
Winans latest feature film INK is currently in a limited theatrical release
around the United States and is playing festivals around the world.
Kiowa Winans - Producer of INK
Kiowa graduated with a degree in Finance at Colorado State University and a law degree at the University of Denver. She is part of the Double Edge Films team and has experience pulling together financing, production, post-production, and foriegn distribution deals.
She and her husband Jamin (writer/director) have been recently promoting their new film INK, which will be screened at CRFF.
Tim Gallagher - Host and Producer of Gerald
Tim, a software developer by trade and co-owner of Gallaware, Inc., is a passionate filmmaker whenever he is not also enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountain region. He is co-owner of GallaFilms and has won several awards for his acting, directing & producing since he first started performing in musical comedies many years ago.
He is the writer/producer/editor of the award winning feature Gerald, which is finally entering the distribution phase of its production.
Tim wlll serve as Host and Moderator of this informative seminar.
