Recent Policy Changes

CRFF is now accepting films already available on DVD.
CRFF originally had a policy which followed the traditional progression for marketing films, i.e. film festivals, then theatrical releases, then DVD. So, films already on DVD were previously not accepted for submission into the festival.

However, as we all know by now, with the growing popularity of alternate ways to view movies (on-line, hand-held devices, TV on-demand, etc.), traditional marketing/distribution for independent films is not necessarily the only way to go anymore, and so we are changing with the times as well. The film festival is now just another part of the overall marketing process regardless of whether the film is available on DVD or not.

Therefore, beginning with the 2010 submission season, CRFF is now allowing the submission of films already available on DVD. We are also working on a policy to allow those DVDs to be sold at the festival should the submission be accepted for screening. Check back to this web site for future details on this DVD sales opportunity.
